Network Technician by trade.
Disciple of Christ by calling.
Eternal student of growth.
"Whatever you do, do it wholeheartedly, as if you were doing it for the Lord and not for others," - Colossians 3:23
Hello, I'm Josh Koontz, a developer based in West Virginia who believes technology isn't neutral. Every line of code either builds up or tears down. I chose the former.
It started simple: late-night Python command line games in college for fun. Nothing fancy but the deeper I went into software, the more I realized God wired me for both logic and purpose. Faith didn't stay in Sunday Church, it started shaping my commits, my deadlines, and my definition of success.
Today I ship production web apps, experiment with AI tools that serve real people, and pour my best energy into jkoontz.dev: a digital home for believers who code, grow, and refuse to separate their walk with Christ from their work.
This isn't a "Christian tech" gimmick. It's a conviction. I've watched too many developers burn out chasing metrics. I've watched too many believers hide their faith at work. I'm done with both.
So here we are. Honest reflections on code + Christ. Real projects with real impact. And a standing invitation to grow together.
Northern Panhandle, West Virginia - small-town roots, big vision.
Full-stack engineer & indie builder. Python, Django, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and whatever tool actually solves the problem.
Colossians 3:23 - work as worship. Growth isn't optional; it's obedience.
Helping just one person become closer to God.
2022 – 2023 • Credit Union
Normal help desk role. We all had to start from the bottom.
2023 – 2024 • Bitcoin Mining Facility
Kept 10,000+ ASIC miners online 24/7. Learned more about infrastructure, power optimization, and high-stakes uptime in one year than most devs learn in a decade. Wild season, but God used it to teach me stewardship of massive systems.
2024 - Present • Credit Union
I love this job - no plans to leave. I ship production architecture, and get to apply my faith to real networking problems every day.
